Things you should get BEFORE you visit:
:: ph neutral soap or shower gel
:: Wound and healing ointment ( e.g. normal Bepanthene or a other wound cream with Dexpanthenol, Hustle Butter, Balm Tattoo, Inkeeze, calendula ointment from the pharmacy or similar )
:: If you regularly take medication, please check with your doctor if tattooing is still possible.
:: If you would like a Second Skin patch (from Tattoomed or Suprasorb F) please take it with you to your tattoo appointment. I do not always have a Second Skin patch in stock at the studio.
In general
for the first 3-4 weeks
1 . no sun, no solarium. AFTER these first four weeks use sunscreen with SPF 50. The skin needs a few months to restore the skin's own UV protection. Note that sun and UV radiation can fade your tattoo faster. Therefore, use sunscreen with high sun protection factor (SPF 50) on your tattoo when it is healed, so that it remains beautiful for a long time.
2 . Avoid anything that softens your skin, such as bathing, sauna, steam bath, swimming.
3 . Protect your newly tattooed area from pressure and friction, e.g. sports or tight clothing.
4 . Sport is in principle possible after 4 days, but it depends on the tattooed area, the type of sport and the healing of the wound. For sweaty sports it is better to pause for 2-3 weeks.
5 . Do not let anyone touch your fresh tattoo and protect your tattoo from animal hair. Because both can easily cause infections!
6 . Swelling, redness, in rare cases bruising, are completely normal reactions in the beginning. Especially around the bends of the arms, wrists, ankles and knees, the healing process takes a little longer.
7 . Even if your tattoo looks healed after a few days, stick to all points! Under the first layer of skin, the healing process continues - even if the healing seems already complete. Until then, avoid all irritation and stress.
Tattoo care
different types of tattoo care
-
Day 1-3
:: After 3-4 hours wash hands and remove the foil bandage
:: Gently wash the tattoo with ph-neutral soap
:: Pat dry with kitchen roll paper or fresh towel
:: Keep your tattoo clean and dry until the wound has closed.
:: Then put a very thin layer of healing ointment 1-3 times a day. Here is: do not let it dry out and do not over-grease.
:: Protect your tattoo from animal hair and direct sunlight.4th-21st day
:: After 3-4 days it can come to a crust formation (as with a graze) with subsequent itching, please do not scratch or pluck the crust away!
:: touch your tattoo only with clean hands
:: wash your tattoo daily and 1-2x daily very thinly with tattoo healing cream.
:: avoid everything that softens the skin. (do not bathe, go swimming,..) :: no swimming, no sauna, no solarium:: avoid friction on the body site (too tight clothes, extreme sports)
:: protect your tattoo from animal hair and direct sunlight. -
The first 3-5 days
1 . The Second Skin patch should stay on your skin for 24 hours to a maximum of 4 days.
2 . You can shower normally with the patch. It protects against water penetration, dirt and bacteria. At the same time, it allows your skin to breathe and provides a balanced environment that supports wound healing.
3 . If fluid forms under the patch and color accumulates, this is normal and you can still leave the patch on. The important thing is that the patch is tight and no fluid is oozing out.4 . If your patch comes off earlier and leaks, remove it and treat your tattoo as described for the foil method (variation 1).
5 . Removing the patch
:: Remove the patch after 24 hours to a maximum of 5 days carefully under running warm water.
:: Then wash the area with ph-neutral soap and let it dry.
:: Apply a thin layer of cream to your tattoo 1-2 times a day (depending on your skin type) for two to three weeks.
6 . From time to time it happens that the glue of the patch is not well tolerated (redness, itching, burning). Then remove the patch as well and "guard" your tattoo as described in variant 1. -
Especially for color tattoos I recommend the first 3 days the use of tattoo pads (eg from Tattoo Armour). This is like a kind of dressing that absorbs excess fluid, protects the tattoo and does not stick to the wound.
1 . Wash hands
2 . Remove tattoo pad
3 . Wash tattoo with water or ph neutral soap, pat dry
4 . apply tattoo healing ointment
5 . apply tattoopad
6 . after 4-6h change tattoopad and repeat procedureafter the 3 days you can either apply a second skin patch or apply 1-3x daily for 3 weeks with tattoo ointment.
Application of the second skin patch:
1 . Tattoo wash, dry, disinfect with Octenisept, let it dry
2 . Apply Second Skin Plaster at least 1-2 cm larger than the tattoo
3 . The plaster is breathable and lasts 24 hours to a maximum of 4 days
4 . If the plaster leaks, remove carefully under warm water. -
After 3-8 days, the skin will begin to peel slowly or a crust will form - more on some, less on others. Be especially careful not to scratch or pick away the crust. Any or violent removal of the crust will bring the pigment back out of the skin and leave unsightly stains in your tattoo. If the wound is closed: depending on skin type 1-2 times a day apply a very thin layer of cream (wash your hands well beforehand).
Note that sun and UV radiation can fade your tattoo faster. Therefore, always use sunscreen with high sun protection factor (SPF 50) on your tattoo when it is healed. -
If you already have good experience with a tattoo care cream / healing ointment, I would stay with this. Otherwise, I like to recommend calendula ointment from the pharmacy, alternatively coconut oil / shea butter / aloe vera gel or a wound cream with the active ingredient dexpanthenol. Do not use strongly perfumed cosmetic products for the first 3 weeksIf you are unsure or observe unexpected reactions, contact me. It is always good to observe the healing process carefully.
Tipps
Protect your tattoo from the sun and UV radiation especially in the first 3-4 weeks! Choose light cotton clothing to cover your tattoo. For underarm or leg tattoos, you can also make a protective sleeve out of a light, loose cotton sock in the summer. If you are at home, your tattoo will heal best without a cover, in the fresh air. For the first 3 nights, protect your tattoo while sleeping with loose cotton clothing. If you wake up in the morning and your tattoo is stuck on your shirt - don't rip it off - but take a shower and with warm water you can carefully loosen the clothing. Protect your tattoo from pet hair! If your pet sleeps in the bed, it is best to change the bed linen to avoid infections on the fresh tattoo.
